Inter Regional Sports Policy Summit 2015

Inter Regional Sports Policy Summit 2015

The Inter Regional Sports Policy Summit was an invitation-only high-level meeting involving key decision-makers from major linguistic blocks, Government ministers, senior representatives from leading international institutions, as well as from the sport and Olympic movement.

Held in Lisbon on 16-17 March, the Summit was the first of its kind to blend sports public policy and inter-regional cooperation in order to enhance global leadership and develop solutions to the issues confronting the integrity, good governance and sound development of sport.

With sport facing increasing challenges from threats such as betting fraud, financial opacity and child trafficking, participants at the Summit agreed on the need for action, enhanced dialogue and effective collaboration at a global level in areas from sporting and financial integrity and good governance, to the impact of sport on socio-economic development, youth development and child protection.

The pioneering event, hosted by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), had the institutional support of the Portuguese Government, the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and the Commonwealth and promoted a structured dialogue on sports policies and strategic reforms.
