ICSS Director of Security Operations, Andrew Cooke, made a guest appearance on beIN Sports on 14 April to talk about some of the current and emerging challenges and solutions around securing major international sport events.
Speaking live on beIN and covering a range of topics and incidents that took place during the week, Andrew Cooke, ICSS Director of Security Operations, said:
“For any security plan, it is important to work collectively with clubs, fan groups and the authorities in the lead up to any major sporting event. An integrated approach is vital to ensuring a safe and successful event. When managing fans, particularly those in public areas, I believe it is important to apply a ‘business as usual’ approach and many clubs now work directly with authorities, as well as intelligence services, and have ‘spotters’ to identify fans who could cause trouble.”
